2018 Annual Math Bee

  On Tuesday, April 10th, 2018, Logan-Magnolia Community Schools hosted the SWI Regional Math
Bee event for area sixth graders at the Logan Community Center. Lori Lockwood, regional coordinator of the event, shared that students were selected to compete by being one of the top four math students currently enrolled in the sixth grade in their home district.

  Twenty-five teams, across our region, competed in this event with a goal of determining which schools had the top three math teams and which competitors were the top twenty-five individual students. After nearly sixty-four minutes of testing, student abilities in the areas of: the number system, expressions and equations, geometry, statistics, and ratios and proportional relationships; the results for both teams and individuals were tallied.
  Three teams were chosen as the top teams:

1.  First place was awarded to Becky Thompson's team from Treynor. Her competitors included: Guy Shipley, Danny Kinsella, Karson Elwood, Chloe Pryor and Addilyn Branson.  
2. Becky Ruth's Glenwood Middle School Team A earned second place. The team members were: Abby McDaneld, Maverick Mixan, Keaton Mayhew, Adam Severn and Julia Nightser.  
3. Third place was awarded to Kim Zaccone's Harlan Team A. The team members were: Darbie Argotsinger, Chris Chapman, Cole Heronimus and Lael Taylor.  

   The top three individuals are as follows:

1. First place - Guy Shipley (Treynor)  
2. Second place - Abby McDaneld (Glenwood team A) 
3. Third place - Keaton Mayhew (Glenwood team A)

   The remaining top twenty-five individuals included:
